The presidency has fired back at Transparency International over its recent rating of Corruption Perception Index which placed Nigeria 149 out of the 180 countries surveyed. The new data which showed that Nigeria dropped three places and scored lower in number of points than in the previous year’s record, suggested that the country’s corruption situation had worsened. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced that 864 new cases of Coronavirus were recorded in the country on Thursday January 28. The health agency gave a breakdown of the new cases across states as follows; FCT-129, Anambra-87, Rivers-82, Benue-80, Oyo-76, Plateau-61, Kaduna-54, Delta-51, Nasarawa-38,  Kwara-36, Edo-32, Katsina-26, Kano-24, Taraba-18, Ogun-14, Sokoto-11, Gombe-10, Jigawa-7, Akwa Ibom-6, Cross River-6, Zamfara-5, Bauchi-5, Osun-4, Ekiti-2. There are now 127,024 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country and 1,547 deaths have been recorded. 100,853 patients who recovered from the disease have also been discharged.

Larry King’s estranged wife, Shawn Southwick King has said that the TV icon died of sepsis, not his recent battle with coronavirus.
