964 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria on Sunday, January 25, 2021. According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, Lagos recorded 360 new cases, the highest for the day. Other states with new cases include FCT-88, Ogun-73, Imo-72, Kaduna-67, Plateau-57, Abia-41, Osun-41, Rivers-32, Kano-26, Niger-24, Benue-23, Edo-20, Cross River-20, Akwa Ibom-8, Nasarawa-6, Zamfara-6, Ekiti-6 and Jigawa-4. The agency also disclosed that they were 774 community recoveries in Lagos State. Nigeria now has a total of 121,566 confirmed cases of COVID-19. 97,228 patients have been discharged so far with 1,504 deaths recorded.

Singer Naira Marley has reacted to some school children being arrested by Amotekun operatives for modelling themselves as him. In the video which has gone viral,  a lady who is supposedly a teacher in the school portrayed the boys as criminals and also revealed that they were arrested in a bush. The National Assembly’s resumption which was initially scheduled for January 26 has been postponed till February 9. The postponement was revealed in a statement released by the clerk to the National Assembly, Ojo Olatunde Amos. At least 24 persons were reported dead in a gas explosion, road crash and a bandit attack in Delta, Ondo and Kaduna state respectively. Ten persons reportedly died on Friday night in Agbor, the headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State after a gas plant went up in flames, destroying several buildings, vehicles and leaving many persons with serious injuries. A medical doctor has narrated how a woman lost her child after insisting on calling her Pastor before going into the theatre for surgery. According to @Baldilocks_, the pregnant woman came to the hospital with cord prolapse and was being prepared for an emergency Caesarean Section, but she insisted on calling her pastor.
