127 soldiers have reportedly resigned from the Nigerian army amid the worsening security challenges the military is currently encountering in some parts of the country. According to a memo obtained by Premium Times, it was gathered that the soldiers that are involved are all of the junior cadres which cut across various formations of the army in the country. 1,964 new cases of Coronavirus were recorded in Nigeria on Thursday January 21, as announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). The health agency gave a breakdown of the new cases across states as follows; Lagos-824, FCT-246, Plateau-166, Kaduna-128, Ogun-76, Nasarawa-74, Anambra-69, Edo-50, Rivers-45, Ondo-44, Niger-40, Oyo-38, Adamawa-35, Kano-31, Akwa Ibom-27, Gombe-19, Kwara-13, Ekiti-12, Delta-6, Kebbi-6, Bauchi-5, Ebonyi-4, Osun-3, Zamfara-1. There are now a total of 116, 655 confirmed cases of the disease in the country and 1, 485 deaths have been recorded. 93, 646 patients who recovered from the disease have also been discharged.

The Federal Government has extended the deadline for Nigerians with the National Identity Number, NIN, to link it up with their SIM cards. It would be recall that Federal government in December 2020 gave Nigerians with NIN that are yet to link their Sim cards till January 19 to link them up or risk getting their telephone lines blocked. Josephine, 12, and her father, hails from Ibadan, in Oyo state, spoke to Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.
