1444 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria on Sunday, January 18, 2021. According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, Lagos recorded 901 new cases, the highest for the day. Other states with new cases include Plateau-136, Kaduna-57, FCT-54, Ebonyi-53, Akwa Ibom-52, Nasarawa-32, Osun-29, Ogun-28, Imo-16, Oyo-16, Edo-15, Kano-14, Rivers-10, Ekiti-7, Borno-6, Abia-5, Benue-4, Yobe-4, Kebbi-3, and Anambra-2. The Nigeria Police Force has responded following reports that eighteen police officers were kidnapped by criminals along the Birnin Gwari – Funtua Highway on Friday, January 15. The force reacted via it official Twitter handle said only sixteen officers were attacked in the ambush which was successfully repelled. The police added that four officers were killed during the exchange of gunfire and one officer is missing. Music Canada has published the Platinum certification of Wizkid and Drake’s 2017 single ‘Come Closer’. The announcement was made via their Twitter handle on the 15th of January 2021 confirmed that ‘Come Closer’ is now officially certified platinum. The tweets reads; “Come Closer,” the 2017 single by Nigerian artist @wizkidayo ft. @Drake, is now officially certified Canadian Platinum! According to their site, Music Canada recognizes the following Single Award tiers: Gold: 40,000 Units. Platinum: 80,000 Units.
