Nigeria’s debt stock rose to ?32.223 trillion in September 2020 as revealed in the third quarter country debt data released by Debt Management Office on Thursday December 31. The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has warned that those extorting National Identification Number (NIN) applicants risk a 7-year jail term. Citing Sections 14, 20 and 21 of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) Act and Sections 10 and 12 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, the NIMC which stated that the offence is punishable in accordance with the laws also affirmed that the ongoing enrollment for the National Identification Number (NIN) is free across the country.
