225 new cases of Coronavirus was recorded in Nigeria on Tuesday October 13, as confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). A breakdown of the new cases is as follows; Lagos-165, FCT-17, Rivers-13, Ogun-12, Niger-8, Delta-4, Ondo-2, Anambra-1, Edo-1, Ekiti-1, Kaduna-1. There are now 60,655 confirmed cases in the country and 1,116 deaths have been recorded. 52,006 patients who recovered from the disease have also been discharged.
Nigerians have reacted to the announcement of a new unit named Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, as replacement for the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer DCP Frank Mba, it is expected that the unit will fill the gaps arising from the dissolution of the defunct SARS.
