Italy-born Nigerian defender, Destiny Udogie has agreed in principle to join Tottenham from Udinese for £21million including add-ons this summer.

Udogie, who has been tipped for a call-up to the senior Italy squad having already played for the U21s, is regarded as a long-term investment for Spurs.

The 19-year-old will become a Tottenham player in a matter of days as a €20m agreement with his club has been reached. But the  Premier League giants will send him back to Serie A on loan for the 2022-23 season.

Udogie rose to prominence last season after an incredible debut season with Udinese.

He scored five goals and provided three assists in 35 Serie A appearances for Udinese, showing off his skills both offensively and defensively.

Udogie, who was born in Italy to Nigerian parents, has represented them at every level from U-16 to U-20 levels.

He also looks forward to getting a senior invitation with the Italian national team

The young footballer previously said he hopes to walk in the footsteps of players like Angelo Ogbonna who chose to represent the Azzurri’s over the Super Eagles.

“I will do everything to make myself appreciated by the (Italian) coach, it is a goal that I particularly care about,” the player had said about his international future.
