Canadian rapper, Drake lost a $1 million bet he placed on Argentina winning the World Cup yesterday, December 18, even though his prediction was right.
He had placed a bet on the South American team winning the tournament in normal time.
Mbappe’s two quick goals which pushed the match into extra time ruined Drake’s wager.
Argentina was up 3-2 against France in the dying stages of extra time in the final, but Mbappe also found the back of the net in the 118th minute to level the scores. The French striker also became the second footballer ever hat-trick scorer in a World Cup final.
Drake’s famous curse for wrong tips was eventually broken as Argentina defeated France 4-2 on penalties to win the World Cup.
