Liverpool beat Manchester United to the £44 million ($53m) signing of PSV forward Cody Gakpo according to Goal report.
The Netherlands World Cup star will be joining the Merseyside”Reds” on a six-year contract from PSV and it’s a possible replacement for Luiz Diaz whose currently out injured 🤕.
Cody Gakpo’s valuation increased at the World Cup with three goals in five appearances for the Netherlands; Manchester United had shown interest in Gakpo in the summer before pursuing a deal for Antony from Ajax; Southampton had an offer rejected for the 23-year-old in the summer.
A statement released by both clubs confirms the 23year old will be joining Liverpool. The statement read;
A PSV statement on Monday said: “PSV and LFC have reached an agreement on the proposed transfer of Cody Gakpo.
“The 23-year-old attacker will leave for England imminently, where he will be subjected to the necessary formalities ahead of the completion of the transfer.”
