Former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, has been elected the President of the 10th Nigerian Senate.

He defeated his close rival, Abdul-Aziz Yari, former Zamfara State Governor.

The election took place in the early hours this morning June 13.

On the other hand, Senator Jilbrin Barau has been elected Deputy Senate President unopposed.

Senator Dave Umahi nominated him while Senator Saliu Mustapha seconded the motion. Clerk to the National Assembly, Sani Tambuwal declare him elected unopposed as there was no counter-nomination.
