In what appears to be a record with a touch of history, Team Godfather under the leadership of tactician Rufai Amhed widely called Godfather has been crowned champions of the football section for a second consecutive time.
On July 1st, 2023. Kwara youths across political beliefs slugged it out on the turf, it was an avenue to create and write history by Team Godfather who doubles as the winner of the maiden edition of PWKY.
Apart from winning the tournament without conceding a single goal after five matches played, Shehu Suleiman Kayode (fabulous) the energetic captain of the team won the Most Valuable Player, Ayuba Olufadi won the Highest Goal Scorer while the team Goalie Jimba also won the clean sheet award for his exceptional saves. Team Godfather won prizes galore for almost everything aside from losing the coach of the tournament to Team Otukoko. However many said it was a consolation prize for the runners-up.
The mystery of the tournament was the pre-match press conference granted by the head coach of Team Godfather Barrister Rufai Ahmed, he said: “I am confident my team is going to emerge victorious at the end because of our adequate preparation.” At the end of the long league, Team Godfather emerged as the champion for a second time consecutively, a success many have nicknamed “Two Tournaments, One winner”
