Please, our attention has been drawn to the above-captioned subject matter which was purportedly written by one Comr. Muritala Adekola Adekoya on behalf of Osin people of Ilorin East Local Government of Kwara State dated 23rd August 2023.
It is not in our habit to respond to overwrite-ups posted online, however, we are compelled to respond to this in other to clarify some issues so that the general public will not be misled by some people who either deliberately wish to mislead the general public or they are not familiar with the history and structures of Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State, hence we have to make the record straight.
To start with the writers of the open letter, express their concern over the imaginary none inclusiveness in the sharing of the public offices in Kwara state by His Excellency Mallam Abdulrahmanman Abdulrasaq wherein they wrongly thought that Ilorin East Local Government is divided in to two Districts i.e Gambari District and Osin District this is total false, misconception and misleading with the intention of deceiving general public to gain undeserved apology from the general public or unnecessary political sympathy from the good people of Ilorin East local Government.
Sir, for avoidance of doubt, immediately Ilorin East was created out of the old Ilorin Local Government, 4 Districts were carved out of it namely: 1. Gambari District, 2. Are District, 3. Osin District and, 4.Fulani District. However, when Ilorin South was carved out of Ilorin East Local Government then we now have 3 Districts in Ilorin East Local government they are Gambari District which comprises of four wards namely Gambari I, Gambari II, Sango Ward and Ibagun Ward while Districtrict comprises of two wards that is Magaji Are ward I and Magaji Are ward II while Osin District which comprises of six wards as follows: 1. Agbeyangi/Gbadamu,/Osin ward, 2. Iponrin ward, 3. Apado ward, 4. Marafa/ Pepele ward, 5. Maya/Ile Apa ward, 6. Oke oyi/Oke Ose ward. This is the gazette arrangement right from the first day, Ilorin East was created.
His Excellency there are three Elective positions and at least one cabinet member available for good people of Ilorin East Local Government that we normally share among the three Districts mentioned above they are: 1 State House of Assembly, 2. Party Chairman and 3 Local Council Chairman with at least one Commissioner of all this positions Osin District benefits more than other Districts.
Sir, it is to be noted the appointment of competent person that you believe you can work with to move Kwara State forward is strictly at your Excellency’s discretion while the other positions are share among the Districts.
His Excellency, right from the first day you take the mantle of leadership of Kwara State in 2019 you have been fair to each and every sections in the state Ilorin East inclusive for avoidance of doubt. In 2019 the state House of Assembly member was zoned to Osin wherein Hon. Jimoh Amuda was elected between 2019-2023, the APC party chairman was also zoned to the same District wherein Hon. Habib Lawal emerged as Ilorin East APC party chairman the Transition implementation Committee Chairman was zone to Gambari District wherein Hajia Seriki Gambari was appointed while the post of commissioner was zoned to Are District. It is also to be noted that during the electioneering campaign in 2022/2023 when Hon. Hajia Arinola fron Are District resigned to contest for State House of Assembly Ilorin east the post of Commissioner was given to Osin District in person of Hon. Dr. Abolore Alabi.
In conclusion, we are not unaware of the fact that the above captioned write-up is a sponsored one aiming at gaining undeserved political sympathy from people of Ilorin East, this we cannot fold our arms and allow some political sponsored group of people to distort our gazette political arrangement in Ilorin East Local Government of Kwara State.
Hence, we make this rejoinder in order to make the records straight, so that our people will not be mislead to think that we have only two Districts in Ilorin East when in actual fact we have three Districts in the local Government.
