On 2nd April 2024, a devastating fire inferno recently ravaged some shops inside the popular Owode Market Offa, leaving numerous individuals without a means of survival as shops and goods were burnt. In response to this tragedy, the Foundation for Community Development (MOK Foundation) generously donated one million, seven hundred and fifty thousand naira to support the affected victims. This compassionate gesture aims to alleviate the suffering of those impacted and assist in their recovery.

The Chief Imam of Offa Land, Imam Muhideen Salman was the special guest at the event, he admonished the beneficiaries to accept the unfortunate incident as the will of Allah, Imam Muhideen said “ Whatever happened to us must be seen as the will of Allah, we still have hope as long as we still breathe” Imam Muhideen asked the spectators, guests, and beneficiaries to offer sincere prayer for the founder of the MOK Foundation Alhaji Muhideen Okunlola Kayode, stating that MOK has prioritized humanity first, Imam Muhideen presented 50k cash to each of the beneficiaries one after the other.

Speaking on behalf of the Foundation, Mr. Temitope Saheed the executive director of the MOK Foundation reechoed the goodwill of the foundation towards making sure that everyone counts “ We are not unknown to the people of Owode market, as have been empowering small scale traders with various cash donations, we illuminated the market a few months ago, we are not stopping at this, we shall continue to be responsive to people needs and desires” Mr Saheed concluded.

Beneficiaries react

Mrs. Idayat Yusuf is a widow, she fainted upon hearing the news of the fire inferno “ After the unfortunate incident that damaged our shops and goods, many have made empty promises to us, it’s a thing of joy to receive fifty thousand nairas from MOK Foundation, may Allah come through for the founder and entire team member of the Foundation”

Mrs. Oyeyemi Mujidat narrated how the unfortunate incident destroyed his goods “ I sell Grade A cloth inside the market when I got to the shop the next day, I wasn’t able to pick a single pin, the fire burnt every single piece of clothing I left inside the shop, I appreciate MOK for his kind gesture of giving each one of us fifty thousand nairas, this will go a long way in bringing us back, may Allah reward him and his team abundantly”

It was an emotional moment for Mrs Oyeyemi Kudirat who did not see the kind gesture by the MOK Foundation coming, with excitement she prayed fervently for the MOK Foundation for giving her Fifty thousand naira, she expressed her undeserved gratitude to the founder of the foundation.

The foundation’s donation is a significant contribution to the relief efforts, providing essential funds for the victims to rebuild their lives. The foundation’s founder, Alhaji Muhideen Okunlola Kayode, expressed deep sympathy for the victims and emphasized the organization’s commitment to supporting those in need.

“We are deeply saddened by the fire inferno that has affected so many lives,” said MOK. “We hope that our donation will bring some comfort and support to the victims during this difficult time.”
