The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced that 864 new cases of Coronavirus were recorded in the country on Thursday January 28. The health agency gave a breakdown of the new cases across states as follows; FCT-129, Anambra-87, Rivers-82, Benue-80, Oyo-76, Plateau-61, Kaduna-54, Delta-51, Nasarawa-38,  Kwara-36, Edo-32, Katsina-26, Kano-24, Taraba-18, Ogun-14, Sokoto-11, Gombe-10, Jigawa-7, Akwa Ibom-6, Cross River-6, Zamfara-5, Bauchi-5, Osun-4, Ekiti-2. There are now 127,024 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country and 1,547 deaths have been recorded. 100,853 patients who recovered from the disease have also been discharged.

Larry King’s estranged wife, Shawn Southwick King has said that the TV icon died of sepsis, not his recent battle with coronavirus. Some of the Chibok girls who were abducted and held by Boko Haram insurgents since 2014 have reportedly escaped. A parent told Daily Trust that some of them were contacted by officials handling the girl’s disappearance and that the affected parents might be invited to Maiduguri on a later date. Two gay men were caned 77 times each after they caught having sex in Indonesia, on Thursday, January 28. Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Human Rights Activist, Femi Falana has criticized the appointments of the service chiefs which according to him is “inchoate”.
